BARCS Release:
Baltimore, MD– Animal Control responded to calls and found that a local woman was breeding Chihuahua’s and could no longer keep up with all of her dogs. She agreed to surrender all 53 of her Chihuahuas to Baltimore City Animal Control who turned them over to the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) to be cared for and prepared for adoption.
Jennifer Brause, BARCS executive director, says, “We take in over 11,000 dogs and cats every year, and it’s situations like these that remind us even more about the importance of spaying and neutering your pets. We are grateful that these dogs seem to be well cared for and hopefully we will find them homes quickly.”
After all of the adult dogs are examined, vaccinated and spayed or neutered, they will be ready to be adopted from BARCS. The first group will be available for adoption at BARCS this Friday, September 25. Adoptions will only be approved in person. The puppies will be ready for adoption once they reach 8 weeks of age.
To adopt one of these Chihuahuas, you can fill out an adoption application online at: http://baltimoreanimalshelter.org/adopt and bring it with you to BARCS to get approved. In order to adopt, you must be at least 18 years old, provide proof of a current address, and have a current photo ID.
